Myongji Hospital is creating robot to help dementia patients

Myongji Hospital, a healthcare institution in South Korea, is developing an AI-powered robot, named PIO, that will offer patient care to individuals with dementia. Myongji will create this robot by collaborating with Whydots, a robot developer, in compliance with the recently signed agreement between the two companies. In early dementia sufferers, the PIO robot, a small parrot-resembling robot, seeks to foster feelings. Through the use of its LED eyes and body movements, it can convey emotions. It contains a camera that can recognise its user’s face and facial expressions.
