NYC Health has launched Produce Prescription Programme Study to address the issue of children with obesity

NYC Health + Hospitals has launched an interesting research study programme that will focus on exploring the impact of a Produce Prescription Programme on the health of children aged 2 to 8 years who are struggling with obesity that poses life-threatening issues. The randomised and controlled trial will employ children who are receiving paediatric care at NYC Health + Hospitals. The families will also receive free home delivery, for 24 weeks, of the locally grown food produce. The prescription of paediatrician will include prescribing fruits and vegetables for overweight and obese children. The purpose of this study is to observe whether or not this particular programme propagates long-term healthy eating habits by removing financial barriers, transportation issues, and inaccessibility challenges.
