Prescription of Food as Medicine shows improvement among individuals

The idea of “Food as Medicine” is gaining traction among scientists as they try to better health through specified and personalised diets. People with chronic diseases are prescribed a targeted diet that not only keeps them safe from worsening but can even reverse the progression. Currently, doctors and scientists are exploring the idea of prescribing healthy food just as usual medication is. Despite the various efforts of the governments to promote health, Western societies still struggle with diseases such as cancer, diabetes, etc., with these conditions being top killers. The problem, experts believe, is the availability and access to healthy food. Prof Jason Wu, a University of New South Wales nutrition epidemiologist and head of the nutrition science programme at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney, conducted a study that showed the people who were given boxes of food showed drastic improvement in health as they opted for healthy food.
