The Royal College of Radiologists and xWave, an Irish health technology firm, have teamed up to improve the accessibility of the latter’s technology in the UK. Using the CDS (Clinical Decision Support) platform, doctors may enter details about a patient’s situation and receive a “next step” action recommendation that is in accordance with the most recent evidence-based recommendations. This might be a recommendation for an MRI scan, a clinic visit, an x-ray, or a self-management plan. In addition to assisting hospital-based radiology staff in more readily vetting and approving imaging requests, the digital tool will support doctors in making the optimal referral choice for each patient. This new alliance will reduce unwanted scans and wasted visits, which will benefit waiting lists and professionals’ workloads.
