University of Minnesota to create a centre to produce antivirals for future pandemics

The University of Minnesota has received a funding worth $66 million to establish a centre for the production of antiviral medicines in anticipation of future pandemics. The duration of this enterprise is three years, which will be increased to five years with an additional funding of $20 million per year. Ryan Langlois, an associate professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School, says that through the Antiviral Drug Discovery Center, innovative drugs can be produced, which will increase the chance of mitigation in the next pandemic.
