US government orders 66 million doses of new COVID-19 vaccine boosters from Moderna

The US government has entered into an agreement wherein 66 million new COVID-19 booster shots by Moderna, possibly backed by $1.74B, have been ordered to fight off the sub-variants of omicron. With a proactive attitude, the US government has secured the supply of Moderna vaccines in order to protect the nation against new variants that are emerging and spreading widely. This new vaccine, Spikevax, nabbed the FDA’s approval earlier this year for individuals aged 18 or above, and fights off original strain as well as the newer one. The company has formulated two more vaccines as well.
