UVA researchers developed a tool to further medical research

Researchers at the University of Virginia School of Medicine (UVA) have developed a powerful tool that has the potential to advance all areas of biomedical research. It encompasses research areas as challenging as fighting against cancer and neurodegenerative diseases or finding out the healthy functioning of cells. Research led by Gloria M. Sheynkman, PhD at UVA has been able to develop a new way through which the functioning of proteins made by our genes can be analysed. By understanding the workings of these proteins, it will become easier to detect how diseases hijack them, which will then make the discovery of treatments easier.
