A multiplex immunoassay, named the Cygnus system, has been devised by researchers at the University of Reading. This technology is targeted at the detection of dengue fever. It also performs the function of identifying the subtype of the Dengue virus. Contrary to the traditional lab tests, this multiplex is more sensitive and convenient; ten tests can be executed on the same sample simultaneously. The POC device can record the patient’s data which can later be shared through a smartphone. The researchers have claimed that the Cygnus system has a higher percentage of efficacy than LFTs.
